Cord L29 - 1929-1932

When you asked e.l. Cord what he thought was the greatest car he ever made, his answer was the magnificent model j duesenberg. But the title of the most influential car he ever made belonged not to the high-priced duesey, but to the less extravagant (but still luxurious) frontwheel-drive vehicle introduced in 1929 the cord l29. Almost singlehandedly, the l29 heralded what came to be known as the golden age of motoring.

About vehicle
Youve got the look innovative styling made the cords reputation. Though few at the time realized its significance, the l29 pioneered the extreme long, lowr look, establishing the soon widely copied proportions of h = 12 l (h equaling the hood length, and l equaling the total car length). The cord also sported a sharp, v-shaped radiator shell, generally credited to designer john osward, w7ho later took that concept to general motors. one out of four in all other respects, frankly, the cord was a rather undistinguished automobile: Mechanically limited (although imaginative in its engineering achievement of frontwheel drive), far too heavy to perform well, and encumbered by a noisy gearing apparatus. Despite minor problems such as these, the l29 must still be considered an extraordinary car, by any standard
The cord l29 was the first frontwheel-drive car to achieve significant commercial success.
