Unprofitable venture
there had been an earlier ferrari convertible sold under the 250 gt label in 1954, but it had only found 40 clients in. Four years. Despite an extremely high price, it had proved an unprofitable venture. Both models had convertible coachwork designed and built by pinin farina, but the new 250 gt series ii was plainer and more anonymous than its predecessor. Its relatively upright windshield and roomy trunk were perhaps lacking in elegance, but at least its occupants were better protected from the wind and could carry a reasonable amount of luggage.
