Sculptured sides, choice of engines
for 1964 the sports roadster was dropped, leaving only the landau sports coupe, hardtop coupe and convertible. A 390cc v8 engine remained standard. Optional ones ranged in power up to the 427-cu.-in., 425hp thunderbird super high-performance v8, with two four-barrel carburetors. The 1965 thunderbird had a erosshatched grille, simulated chrome scoops on the front fenders and disc brakes.

for 1966 a hardtop town sedan was added to the lineup. It was the last year for the convertible. The thunderbird grille was sharply angled back and carried a massive emblem. Bumpers were lighter, a single taillight stretched
from side to side and rear skirts were optional only. Customers could choose a new engine option: Fords 427-cu.-in. Cobra jet v8.
