Steyr was a powerful combine producing armaments, airplane engines and bicycles before introducing its first automobile in 1920. The company merged with austro-daimler-puch in 1934. Built on a 112-in. Wheelbase, the steyr 220 was bodied as a convertible, streamlined open two-seater or pillarless sedan.

No american can fault the anonymous studebaker executive who was responsible for naming the top 1927 model the president, with the commander smaller and the dictator smaller still. Like its big brother, the commander was a durable vehicle. In 1927 three of them set a new production-car record in atlantic city by each running 25,000 uninterrupted miles, averaging more than 60 mph to boot

Studebaker beat the big three to the draw by presenting the first all-new automobile models after world war ii. Raymond loewys studio was responsible for the design of what became known as the coming-and-going studebaker because the hood and rear deck were of nearly equal length. The commander was the larger of the two studebaker series.

Studebaker Land Cruiser - 1947-1952
Two years before the big three presented their first truly post-world war ii models, studebaker stole a march on them with its new-look 1947s. The largest studebaker was the land cruiser, a four-door sedan belonging to the top-end commander series but with a stretched-out version of the commander body.
