| | About vehicle The ford connection
de tomasos first cars were the vallelunga and mangusta, but the pantera became better known in the United States because thousands of these wedge-shaped high-powered sports coupes were sold through lincoln-mercury dealers. The pantera continued in production after the ford connection ended in 1974, but de tomaso also introduced a four-door deauville sedan and two-door longchamp coupe.
luxury and power
the longchamp had the same mechanical components as the pantera, including fully independent suspension and a big ford cleveland 351-cu.-in. V8 engine. A monocoque, the longchamp was designed by ghia, the coachbuilder then controlled by de tomaso, and was built on a 102-in. Wheelbase. The interior
was particularly luxurious. In 1985 there were three versions of this automobile. The de tomaso longchamp was a fast sports coupe combining italian refinement with american mechanics. |
