Dodge Charger - 1966-1967

Making its debut as dodges first fastback model, the charger lived up to its name when equipped with chryslers new street hemi v8, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 130 mph. The awesome hemi, which had already proven itself unrivaled in stock-car racing, featured large, half-arc combustion chambers to burn fuel faster and more completely than ever before.

About vehicle
Sleek two-door hardtop the charger bore the chassis and mnning gear of the dodge coronet and included all features offered by the 500, coronets top trim level. Rear bucket seats folded forward to provide added luggage space, and a full-length console with floor shift divided the interior. Headlights were hidden in the full-length grille, while a single taillight stretched across the back of the car. draggers, beware the most powerful of the chargers four available v8s, the optional hemi required bigger brakes and stiffer suspension. Of the 37,344 1966 chargers produced, only 468 came equipped with hemis; Of the 15,788 1967 models, only 118 carried hemis. Significantly, dodge offered only one-year warranties for the hemi-equipped chargers, compared to five years for the others. Drag racers received no warranty at all.
