| | About vehicle Lots of choices
the 1955 dodge introduced flair-fashion three-tone paint and a divided grille that was dominated by heavy horizontal chrome bars that wrapped around the fenders and held the parking lights. Other features included a simulated hood air scoop and a wraparound windshield. For 1956 the rear fenders began to sprout fins. Pushbutton automatic-transmission controls, located in pods to the left of the steering wheel, were added. Dodges again came in three trim levels: Coronet, royal and custom royal, with the latter two receiving vertical chrome teeth in the grille.
performance v8
the d-500 performance package featured a new v8 with the hemispherical combustion chambers and double rocker shafts used by the 1955 super
red ram v8 but not retained for 1956. With a high compression ratio and four-barrel carburetor, the d-500 engine reached 260 hp. Spoiling newly sprouted tailfins, contrasting colors and a toothy grille, this 1956 dodge royal lancer two-door hardtop coupe has a rakish look. |
