Different strokes the 250 gt had just about everything going for • it. As meek in the low rpm range as many lesser cars, it boasted a short-stroke engine whose flexibility had to be experienced to be believed. And whenever additional acceleration was needed, the all-synchromesh four-speed box was equal to the task. For someone clearing city traffic- and tooling into open country through rolling hills and winding roads, the gt had the unbeatable combination of covering ground fast and handling with ease. simply the best add comfortable seats with adjustable backs, fore and aft leg adjustments, and a large glass area for excellent vision, and you had a well-rounded world-class sporting machine. Sure, its competitors all shared some of these features, and many were more elaborately detailed. But the ferrari 250 gt berlinetta was one of the few that put the whole package together perfectly.
Presented at the paris salon in 1959, the beriinetta went on to win major races in 1961, 1962 and 1963, conquering monza, nurburgring, spa and the tour de france.
