V8 power in four cylinders
aimed squarely at competition from european-style gts, the svo housed an engine borrowed from the thunderbird turbo coupe, but with an air-to-air intercooler added and the first-ever computer controls to vary the turbos boost pressure. This enabled its four cylinders to generate more power than most v8s. The performance package also included hurst linkage for the five-speed transmission, adjustable koni gas-filled shock absorbers, a biplane rear spoiler, l6-in. Tires and a functional hood air scoop.
too expensive
the cars front end (adopted by the other mustangs for 1985) had a single-slot grille, large square headlights flanked by parking lights and
an air dam under the bumper. The interior, including adjustable leather bucket seats, was in charcoal..but this ultimate mustang cost more than twice the base model, so fewer than 10,000 svos wrere sold in three years of production
