But the title of the most influential car he ever made belonged not to the high-priced duesey, but to the less extravagant (but still luxurious) frontwheel-drive vehicle introduced in 1929 the cord l29. Almost singlehandedly, the l29 heralded what came to be known as the golden age of motoring.

And when the driver is a native of le mans, what could be finer than winning the famous le mans 24-hour endurance race? yves courage didnt quite make it, but he did finish third in 1987 aboard his own cougar c20.

Cougar Coi - 1982-1983
Every french auto designer, constructor, mechanic, team manager and driver dreams of victory in the le mans 24-hour endurance race. Yves courage got his taste in 1981, when he won the group 6 two-litre classification at the helm of a bmw-powered lola t298. Victory was doubly sweet since courage was a native of le mans and had an auto dealership there. The next year he built his own car to race against the big boys in the new group c class.

Briggs cunningham was a well-heeled sportsman who pursued speed at the helm of a yacht and the controls of a plane, but especially behind the wheel of a sports car. He raced his own mercedes-engined buick and the first ferrari imported to the united states. In the early 1950s he entered his own cars in europes most prestigious sports auto race, the le mans 24-hour endurance event.

Cz 350 V4 Type 860 - 1973
This machine was conceived by j. Walter and f. Pudil in 1965, but the political turmoil in czechoslovakia during the late sixties meant that the motorcycle was finished four years behind schedule, and even then it fell short of the original concept. For example, italian carburetors had replaced the fuel-injection system. Nevertheless, the bike still developed a highly competitive 52 hp.
