In 1963, ford decided to compete in endurance sports car racing with the aim of winning the 24 hours of le mans and the world constructors championship. The first ford gt 40 (named for its low 40-inch height) was shown at the 1964 new york show, powered by the indianapolis version of the 4.2-litre ford overhead-valve v8.

The Ford Model A maintained its popularity in 1930 with the addition of wider fenders, a higther hoodline, and stainless steel or nickel-plated radiators. Balloon tires, which decreased in diameter from 21 to 19 inches, gave the car a lower stance and a fresh look. A few options on the Model A included a single sidemount, a radiator ornament, wind vanes, a radiator stone guard and a rearview mirror. The car pictured features a rumble seat and the Cabriolet chrome package.
