	Lotus 11 - 1956-1958 One of the few remaining specialized manufacturers in great britain, the lotus engineering company first made its name in 1947 with mark iii 750cc sports racers. Nine years later, the lotus 11 two-seater model jacked up to 1,100 cc hit a blurry 112 mph on a continental roadway, covered the standing quarter-mile in 17.9 seconds and averaged well over 50mpg fuel consumption during normal operation. 	Lotus 16 - 1959 The lotus 16 was generally reckoned to be one of the most refined and well-developed of the companys front-engined racers, though it was not the most successful. It was also one of the last of the companys racers. The 16 was derived from the lotus 12, which it followed in most of the essentials, notably its motorcycle-type positive-stop gearbox (known less than affectionately as the queer box), its obliquely mounted engine and its offset drive-shaft angled to the left of the cockpit.
