Chevrolet Nova - 1973

Introduced for 1962 as the six-cylinder series of the new compact chevy ii, the nova won notoriety in the late 196os as a muscle car with the super sports option. By 1973 the performance era was over, but nova made some news by adding a hatchback coupe to the line and creating a fancier-trim custom series.

About vehicle
Marking time the novas major restyling came in 1968 with a long hood, short rear deck and sail panels. Advertised as the not-too-small car, it had a 111-in. Wheelbase chevys shortest until the camaro was introduced. The 1973 revamping was mild. It consisted of a more crosshatched grille with built-in parking lights, squarish dual rear taillights and bigger bumpers on both ends that had black vinyl impact stripes and a center dip in the rear. The new nova also featured flowthrough ventilation and improved sound deadening. six and eight cylinders the nova shared with the camaro a front subframe that could accommodate big-block v8 engines, but the base engines were a 250-cu.-in six-cylinder and a 307-cu.-in. V8. The ss package retained some of its fascination, for 35,542 of the 369,511 1973 novas came with this option.
