The second edition of chryslers high-performance 300 series, the 300b two-door hardtop coupe dominated nascar grand national racing with 22 wins and was americas fastest and highest-powered car in 1956. A 300b set a new world speed record for passenger cars with a time of 139.9 mph at daytona beach.

More weight, more power the 300 was a high-performance series intended to deflect attention from imported european sports cars and also from the chevy corvette and ford thunderbird.
