About vehicle
Genuine racer the 340 mm was a genuine racer, created for the first world sports car championship, and its engine was virtually identical to the unit used in the ferrari 375 formula one single-seater apart from its slightly smaller displacement. it had cart suspension and truck steering, commented one ferrari buff. the noise in the cockpit was like a combine harvester, and when you accelerated hard you felt as though the sky had fallen in on you. The car only really got in its stride over 100 mph, but at that speed you couldnt count on the brakes.... mille miglia winner ferrari had a strong entry in the 1953 mille miglia, made up of both works and customer cars, with drivers of the caliber of fangio, farina and hawthorn. Driving a vignale-bodied roadster, giannino marzotto won the race by twelve minutes from fangios alfa romeo, setting a new record time of 88.5 mph.
This berlinetta on the 340mmchassis ivas built by vignale and designed by giovanni michelotti.
