About vehicle
No power top plymouths were quite modestly priced, conservative family cars, but engineers devised a power top for the 1939 convertible coupe that helped triple sales of the model. Unfortunately, the task of devising such a top for the bigger convertible sedan proved too complex, so buyers still had to remove the center posts and lower the top, side windows and frames by hand. Yet they paid the highest price ever for a plymouth $1,150. goodbye, rumble seat the 1939 plymouth body had a sharply prowed front end with horizontal grillework and faired-in headlights. It was the last year for rumble seats. The convertible sedan was built on a 117-in. Wheelbase 3 in. Longer than that of any other plymouth and was braced by a heavy crossmember. This model had chrome moldings along the running boards, chrome wheel discs and trim rings, whitewall tires, front-door arm rests and plymouths deluxe steering wheel with horn ring. Leather interior trim was standard.
Plymouths four-door convertible sedan did not survive the 1939 model year. Only 387 of that years most expensive plymouth were produced.
